My story begins in San José and now I want to support the next generation of stories from our neighborhoods. As a high school mathematics teacher, mother and neighbor I am active in our schools and know what it takes to deliver a successful education for every child. Our shared family-focused and community values should be reflected on your School Board.
I graduated from Independence High School and San José State University, and in 1994 I started teaching at LeyVa Middle School. I currently teach mathematics at Silver Creek High School, and my husband, Bradley teaches physical education at Evergreen Valley. Education and our students have been the interest and focus of my career from day one. Our son, Hunter, attends the County special education program at Norwood Creek. Through my experiences in the classroom and as a parent, I see the challenges to providing the needed education services to every student, but I also know the potential our School Boards have to support those needs.
I firmly believe that all students deserve a quality public education. As a parent of a special needs child, I want to make sure he, along with all other children in the district, are given the opportunity to reach their highest potential. For nearly two decades we have been neighbors, and we have seen our families grow and change, there is no reason and no doubt that we can do better for our students, each and every one of them.
As your Trustee I will listen and connect with residents and families. As your Trustee I will support the community I serve first, and ensure our students are priority number one. As your Trustee I will utilize my math and analytics background to ensure every dollar is spent right and we make sure the data support the students as individuals not as numbers.
I’m running for Evergreen School Board to be your advocate so our students will be strong enough and smart enough to step into High School and start on a path of opportunity and to thrive.
